Experienced Energy & Environmental Policy Professional Courtney Taylor Joins ML Strategies in Washington, D.C.
ML Strategies, LLC, a wholly-owned consulting subsidiary of Mintz, today announced that Courtney O. Taylor has joined its Washington, D.C. office as Senior Vice President. With over 20 years of experience as a policy professional, Ms. Taylor boasts a demonstrated track record of success in the energy and sustainability space.
Ms. Taylor’s characteristic can-do drive and instinct for persuasive advocacy make her a fierce champion for clients ranging from nonprofits to large, multinational corporations. Over the course of her career, she has drafted legislation, worked to enforce regulations, and litigated complex legal matters — honing her exceptional strengths as a strategist while acquiring unparalleled insight.
Prior to joining ML Strategies, Ms. Taylor was a partner with a public policy firm in Washington, D.C., where she helped clients in the energy and sustainability sector respond to federal and state challenges. Earlier, as Policy Director of the Ecosystems Program at the Environmental Defense Fund, she worked to advance the organization’s environmental and economic goals and was credited as the lead lobbyist on the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States (RESTORE) Act. Introduced to bolster ecosystem resilience, the bill passed with bipartisan support.
After launching her career as a litigation associate at a global law firm, Ms. Taylor served as an attorney with the Department of Interior and the Department of Justice, where she litigated matters pertaining to energy and natural resources. She earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Tulane University and a BA from the University of Virginia.
“Courtney is a dynamic and strategic energy and environmental policy advocate and we are pleased to welcome her to our team,” said Stephen P. Tocco, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ML Strategies. “Possessing strong ties with influential agency leaders at both the state and federal levels, and a deep knowledge of legal and regulatory issues within policy areas such as renewable energy and climate change, Courtney is a terrific asset to our energy and environmental industry clients in reaching their public policy goals.”
