The Situation
ML Strategies is assisting the joint venture of affiliates of The Davis Companies and the Omni Hotel Corporation with issues related to construction plans for a new property. The project will enhance Boston’s prominence as a leader in the US meetings, conventions, and events industry with a state-of-the-art 1,000+ room luxury hotel in the dynamically evolving Seaport District. It will be directly across Summer Street from — and connected by an underground tunnel to — the Rafael Vinoly-designed Boston Convention Center.
The Approach
Our dedicated team of lawyers and lobbyists is implementing a strategy to gain approval and subsequently begin construction of the project. We were selected by Massport to obtain the necessary permits and oversee the development. ML Strategies professionals worked with individuals inside as well as outside of the government, including regulators, to ensure that the relevant parties were supportive of our approach and agreed that we would provide the best deal for Omni.
The Outcome
ML Strategies is facilitating the permitting and breaking ground for construction phases, with the property expected to open in early 2021.
